CTR Calculator
Clicks divided by impressions is the easy part. The useful part is projecting what a better rate would deliver on impressions you already earn.

Rate, Then Project
A lookup becomes a what-if: same impressions, better click-through, and the click gap between them.
1. Your clicks and impressions
Impressions must be at least the number of clicks, and above zero.
2. Project a better CTR
Same impressions, better click-through. This is the fastest lever on traffic you already earn.

No benchmark verdicts on purpose: a "good" CTR depends on position, query intent, and channel. The companion guide carries sourced benchmarks; this tool carries the math.
How This Calculator Works
Click-through rate is clicks divided by impressions: 250 clicks on 10,000 impressions is a 2.50% CTR, one click for every 40 times the result was shown. The formula is trivial; the meaning depends entirely on where it was measured. In paid search, CTR feeds quality score, and quality score feeds what you pay per click, so a stronger ad literally buys cheaper traffic. In organic search, CTR is the share of impressions you convert into visits: it is the fastest lever on rankings you already hold, because improving the title and snippet takes days while building new rankings takes quarters.
That is why the projection block is on this page. Enter the CTR you think a stronger headline could earn and the calculator holds your impressions constant: at 4% instead of 2.5% on the same 10,000 impressions, you take 400 clicks instead of 250, and the 150-click gap is the monthly cost of the weaker title. No benchmark verdicts here by design: a “good” CTR depends on position, query intent, and channel, and pretending otherwise is how tools mislead. When you want the click lever itself, the headline analyzer scores the thing users actually click on.
The formula
| What | The math |
|---|---|
| CTR | clicks ÷ impressions × 100 |
| Clicks at a projected CTR | impressions × projected CTR |
| Additional clicks | projected clicks − current clicks |
| One click per | impressions ÷ clicks |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is CTR and how is it calculated?
Click-through rate is the percentage of impressions that turn into clicks: clicks divided by impressions, times 100. 250 clicks on 10,000 impressions is a 2.50% CTR. It measures how compelling the ad or search listing is, not what happens after the click.
What is a good CTR?
It depends on position, query intent, and channel, and any single benchmark number hides that. A branded search result at position one and a display ad live in different universes. The honest use of CTR is comparative: against your own history, and against the projection of what a stronger title would deliver on the same impressions.
How do I improve my CTR?
On the same impressions, the levers are the words users see: the headline or title tag, the description or ad copy, and whether they commit to a specific promise. Score the headline first, ship the stronger version, and measure the click gap this calculator projects.
